Cambrian Printers set sights on FSC stock as standard

Cambrian Printers has committed to FSC-accredited paper as part of its green agenda. The paper, supplied by Howard Smith Paper Group, will now be the standard stock for the Aberystwyth-based printer. The paper will not be charged at a premium. The company hopes to offset this both through keen negotiations with Howard Smith and the added appeal of the FSC badge to potential customers.

Cambrian commercial manager Martin Koffer said: "With the ever-increasing emphasis on green issues, more and more of our customers are under pressure from their own subscribers and end-users and have been asking us what they can do.

"When we reviewed our paper supply contract, we made this a key consideration. The new contract put in place means that by printing with us, our customers will be able to give their own customers the assurance of an FSC product, and use the FSC logo on their publications."

The near 150-year-old company boasts a range of other green credentials, such as PEFC certification, ISO 14001 and Green Dragon Level 5 status. It recently became one of six printers awarded a pan-European print contract by the Environment Agency.
